Yes, ESL-Easy supports mixed operation: you can convert stores step by step without interrupting daily business.

Each label is protected by its own individual key, managed via the EWS key server. It only works within the installation it is assigned to. Lost or stolen labels cannot be used in any other installation.

ESL-Easy covers common shelf sizes. The standard color set is black/white/red/yellow (four colors); depending on the model, reduced 2-color variants, 7-color multicolor, or genuine full-color E Paper are also available. See the labels page for details.

Yes, special versions are available for freezer areas (down to −25 °C), for technical reasons currently in black/white only.

Yes, labels can be linked and checked via app, both for individual stores and centrally.

The battery typically lasts at least 5 years, and considerably longer on some models. Battery level is monitored and reported before a replacement becomes necessary.

The labels communicate with the access points via Bluetooth Low Energy. Multiple access points per location cover the full area; ESL-Easy automatically selects the best access point and can display the radio quality of each label at any time.

Most labels have a programmable NFC chip. Customers with an NFC-enabled smartphone can hold their phone to the label and be taken directly to the product page, for example. The function can also be used for internal purposes.

Yes, ESL labels can store several views (pages). The currently active one is shown, for example to display additional information alternately.

Apart from access points and mobile devices on WLAN, no further hardware or software is required. New labels register once online with the EWS key server; after that, operation continues without a permanent internet connection.

Tasks are held in a queue and retried after a configurable wait time; only after prolonged failure is a task marked as failed instead of retrying endlessly. An access point automatically reconnects after a disruption.
